Ranch Salad Dressing From Kefir

My kefir has been doing so well that I need to use it in other things besides Smoothies.   I eat a lot of salads so Ranch Dressing is a perfect addition to my bland ole salads.

This tasted so good that I almost forgot to take a picture!!

CREAMY KEFIR RANCH SALAD DRESSING OR DIP

yield: about 1 c

1 c Kefir milk
1-2 T olive oil (I don't use any oil)
1/2 tsp sea salt
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon parsley
1/2 teaspoon thyme
Black pepper to taste

Mix all ingredients together  or put in a jar and shake . Let sit a couple hours to fully flavor through. Will keep in the fridge for about a week.

What kind of kefer milk do you use? Coconut? Do you make your own? I tried some coconut kefir about a year ago but my body didn't take well to it. I have been thinking about trying it again since I have been doing better. I think I am going to have to try this recipe soon.

Stacie,
I am doing milk kefir. At first my body had trouble with it. A lady told me not to give up. She said start with a 1/2 a cup a day and add just a little to it every day. When I started doing that, things got better. I am still not sure how it is going to go. I figured I would give it a couple of months and see what happens.

The ranch dressing tastes so good. Usually I don't use anything on my salads so this is a welcome change.

This sounds great. Nothing beats homemade ranch dressing!

Do you recommend the theralac probiotic or Klaire Labs probiotic? Which one is better? Love the recipes.--Juliana

Juliana,
I like the TruFlora probiotic best of all. I have never tried the Klaire labs. I know the TruFlora works for me because when I take it, I can feel it working. Strange but true.

Mary,
It sure beats eating nothing on my salad.

Ranch dressing sounds scrump-dilly-ocios. I'm laughing that it was so good you almost forgot to take pictures. How true. I think of pictures tooo late. :) Right now, I'm hungry because Cody and I took our walk late. Your food posts always look heavenly good and healthy.

Great recipe! I enjoy ranch dressing but I WON'T buy it from the store with all of those bad preservatives mixed into the yummy spices. Gotta try this one! :)

Looks DELISH!! I am so glad the milk kefir is working out for you. I am still scared to try dairy, but when I do, I may try my hand at making my own milk kefir. Thank you for sharing this.

Thank you for the great recipe. My grandson likes to dip his vegetables in ranch dressing and I think this will be a great alternative. He does not drink milk but will drink kefir with fresh fruit.
Thank you for stopping by and commenting on Becky Janes guest post. I hope you have a great week.

Miriam,
I don't like all the preservatives they put in our food either. That is why I make most things myself. I wish I could get fresh milk close to me instead of using what I do.

Marielle,
Take it slow if you try the kefir. My body didn't accept it at first but now it seems to be okay. I am going to try it for 2 months.

Grandma Bonnie,
Suposedly, kefir has 32 different probiotics in it. Who knows.

This dressing looks really good. I have been eating my salads without any dressing and they just taste really bland to me. Look forward to trying this ranch dressing!!

MM, that sounds so good right now! I love salads, they are one of the healthiest things that I can get my children to eat without them fussing.

I started 1 month ago using Kefir and switched to Goat Milk from our doe. I had to go VERY slow, as in,2 tablespoons per day. I am now up to 2oz per day, but I drink lots of water too, and I also cook with the kefir milk, I make bread ALOT, pancakes, sauces with it. Just a bit, no more than a half cup each time. Its re adjusting your system. I also am wondering if there is a lot of protein?? which can make me dizzy if I eat too much at once.

The next thing I am making for Easter, is a sweet kefir vanilla bread with kefir goat milk icecream.
