I really had a hard time giving up sugar..... You will never know how hard it is until you are faced with the same option..... Give up sugar or be sick?? I chose to give up sugar.
There are only two sweetners that don't feed candida. Xylitol and Stevia. I like the taste of xylitol much better than stevia. Xylitol tastes almost like sugar and it measures like sugar.
Xylitol And Candida
Another reason I like xylitol better than stevia, it is a proven antifungal and inhibits the growth of candida yeast. It also has been proven to reduce tooth decay by reducing bad bacteria.
Xylitol And Diabetes
Xylitol is a low glycaemic sweetener, and is slowly absorbed and metabolized independently of insulin. Xylitol does not cause the dramatic increase in blood sugar level or serum insulin response and Xylitol can be used as a sugar-free sweetener for diabetics. Xylitol also has low calories per gram (2.4) and can help the diabetic with weight control. Ask Dr Ellie

I gave us sugar items this past week just because I thought it would make me feel better energy wise. I feel much better but I still want to cook desserts!
